Traditional Shipibo Dieta
Shipibo Plant Diet - Sama
Introduction
We are offering full heartedly the opportunity to connect with Tree Medicine in our Masterplant Retreats. Our Shipibo Maestra is connected with an old healer lineage. The way how she offers a Plant Diet, in Shipibo called "Sama", is a traditional, ancient form of energy work. A Shipibo Masterplant Dieta (called a "Sama" in Shipibo), means you get the chance to build up a new relationship with another plant energy and wisdom. Sama is the path of learning in all depth with the Universe. The masterplant opens the channels for you. Then it is up to you how you respond. It is about healing and learning when you choose to invite a Masterplant in your field. The Shipibo Healer in our Retreats will prepare you energetically and will connect you with the energies of the plant. Ute will support the process with her work.
There is a path offered to learn and experience, starting within the most subtle layers and energies. Instead of "living with the physical" and the obvious appearances in life, an awareness opens to experience everything from these subtle layers.
This can become an experience where inward, outward, self, others, ancestors, light or dark energies, mind, heart, body, all types of spirits and universal connections appear in a new context for you over time.
Choosing this path requires readiness and a clear commitment. You cannot go back in time and undo it. What you see, feel and experience wants and needs to be integrated.
For people who are ready, this path can be the biggest gift in life. For people who are not ready, it can be a hell of a rollercoaster, to express it lightly.
How does a Shipibo Plant Diet with us look like?
We offer Ayahuasca ceremonies and, for people who are ready, a connection to strong Teacher & Healer Tree energies (Sama).
To participate and choose to do a Sama is a big commitment. You need to be very clear that you want to move forward in your life, and you need to be very clear that you are ready to let go of destructive habits.
The Tree Medicine we are offering to diet are mostly Noya Rao and Bobinzana. The Ayahuasca ceremonies are the door openers to the world and energies of the trees. The tree medicine itself is offered separately to each person.
The Dieta Process
During the time of Sama there is a strict food diet. (LINK) Simple food is served, usually around 3-4 ingredients without salt, oils, sugar or spices. There are strict fasting times, and at other times optional fasting periods.
It is required to spend most of the time in silence. The facilitators or healer are available if support or conversation is needed. This schedule of eating and fasting can vary depending on the Masterplant, the healer, yourself, and your process during the dieta.
It is a time to go inwards, to become more sensitive, to feel more, to sharpen the senses and to increase awareness. It is a time to let go, to surrender, and to clear out all the "unhealthy" energies we have been carrying around.
The path of the diet brings tests and challenges while we are healing and learning. For each challenge, a reward comes at some point. It is not necessarily a linear process. You can only go through it if you are able to build trust in a higher guidance and presence. Nobody can predict how it will unfold for you. It is an individual process. It needs trust, patience, and focus.
One of the biggest gifts (and challenges) is that the mind falls apart many times — and every time it comes back together, everything feels more whole and more connected.
Integration & Long Term Path
If you choose the path of Sama, the real harvest and work happen in life. It is not a retreat that you simply start and finish.
The life supportive energies the healer sings into you, and the plant wisdom you connect with continues to flow through you, and it is up to you to create a way of life that allows you to integrate it.
Because of that, we offer support in your preparation and integration time. (LINK) There are specific rules to follow before and after the Dieta. Please read the Pre- and Post Dieta restrictions/recommendations.
After the Retreat it is up to you, how you choose to create this new relationship with this plant spirit. Your transformation, integration, and your new connections depend on how much you are willing to commit to consciously creating your path of life.
The energy of the plant which you were dieting with can be with you and guide you for the rest of your life, depending on how much space you give your integration work and how you connect to spirit.
To do a "Sama" means you get the opportunity to create a connection, to create reciprocity, to create an interaction between you and the "rao nete" (Plant Medicine World/Energies).
How you manifest that in daily life is a journey of continuous practice, reflection, inquiry, and recalibration. It's a practice of integrating consciousness mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually in your daily life.
Trees We Offer
The tree medicine we offer in our retreats also work beautifully together, especially if you choose to integrate a Dieta practice into your life on a more regular basis.
There are different ways. In the beginning you will start with one tree. Some peope feel the call to deepen the relationship with one tree for a longer periode of time. Some others choose to add in another diet or in a longer diet a second tree. This all be will discussed individually depending on the proess and the individual.
They each carry very different qualities. Every plant has a different frequency and carries special information on a subtle level. The plant energies can open a space of different states of consciousness and let you experience new perspectives.
To do a Shipibo Plant Diet (Sama) means that you create a new partnership to another Masterplant/World (in shipibo: "rao nete"). This connection and interaction reflect back on you and on your life in some way, depending on your intention and how you integrate your experience.
If you are not yet ready to participate in a Plant Diet, please know that by drinking Ayahuasca with us, you will already receive — through the Ikaro — the energies of these two trees and others, as they are deeply woven into our work. It is a wonderful oportunity to start drinking Ayahuasca with us, as you will get a sense of the Diet Energies as well, in case you like to come another time in the future.
I invite you to invision the tree and see how the appearance talks with you. I´m not suggesting to read about a Tree Medicine. All that is just filtered by human minds and put words on it. Meditate, invite the energies in your dream space, listen and feel into life if you feel a calling for a certain plant to diet with.
Noya Rao
The Noya Rao tree grows very high, reaching up to the roof of the jungle. Its branches extend far outward, while its roots grow deep and strong to hold this giant firmly upright.
Standing in front of this tree is humbling because of its size. The trunk rises straight FAR up. It carries the energy of full alignment and strength.
It is less about the tree itself and more about the energy behind it. There is a whole world, an energetic field and universal connection, offering unlimited teachings if you are ready to connect fully with it.
Noya = Flying Rao = Medicine
The tree can be a reminder for people who need a physical form to relate to. Once you understand, it becomes about the energetic universe behind it (not about the physcial tree).
It is a huge blessing. What matters is that you align with the teachings and integrate them correctly.
This medicine is for people with a deep spiritual connection who feel called to go further.
Traditionally, it is also a path toward becoming a healer within the Shipibo lineage I am learning with.
Bobinzana
The Bobinzana tree grows in a more rounded shape. It is not that high. It has soft pink and white flowers, and strong roots, even though the tree itself is often not very big.
When the waters rise in the jungle, this tree remains deeply grounded and stable. If you touch your skin with the flower it is super soft and gentle. The flower has fine white and pink hairs.
When it blooms, everyone notices it. When it does not, it almost disappears from perception.
Its bark is strong and rustic.
When people choose to diet with us, mostly we select the tree together based on the energy the person brings into the field. Sometimes there is already an inner knowing or calling by the participant. Every plant has different characteristics and works in a different subtle way, all plants offer us to work with our mind, our heart, our body and spirit.
Process
The way we work with the tree is always for healing and learning. It requires preparation, commitment during the retreat, and the awareness that integration is not limited in time.
To live a healthy and aligned life, everything that is learned needs to be integrated.
The process of Sama (Shipibo Plant Diet) is deeply individual. Each person experiences the connection, teachings and healing in their own way. The reasons to do a Dieta can be different. The plants work with the mental patterns, the emotional areas, the physical body, your spiritual being, and much more.
How the "Sama" will unfold for you depends on where your intentions are, plus there is a higher wisdom, spirit or “divine director”, something that we as humans can't know, which is “guiding” the content of your lessons and your experience.
True-Journey offers reduced prices for people who feel called to join regularly, as we value those who want to learn long-term with the wisdom of the plants and the universe.
Deep, long-term dietas are like a "university" of life, the universe and many dimensions.
How this unfolds depends on the individual, and much of it remains within the beauty of mystery. A Masterplant Dieta (Sama) is a kind of school, a University of spirit and shamanism.
My maestros say that every tree which you diet from has its own world. These worlds carry old ancestral wisdom, which you can connect to in its own time and own space.
To connect to this energy and ancestral knowing and understanding requires openness, which you can't navigate with your intellectual mind. Patience and trust are key.
There is an entire universe of intelligence and information that can open up and work with you through Ayahuasca and Masterplant Diets / SAMA. These experiences take place within an infinite network of consciousness, comprising of all the micro and macro cosmos of our universe. So, many things will simply have to remain unspoken ;)
Are you ready for a Sama (Shipibo Plant Diet)?
A Sama is not for people who want to believe in only "one story". Opening to these channels of wisdom is for people who are aware that life can be experienced from many different angles.
It is helpful if you already have experience with pure Ayahuasca. There is usually a phase of cleaning and clearing before planting a Tree Diet into your system.
That said, we have also had people join without prior Ayahuasca experience who already carried a deep connection to Spirit and the universe. In such cases, it can be enough to begin with some clearing ceremonies and then enter a dieta.
Our Healer can, in certain cases, also use the energy of the tree itself for clearing and cleaning.
The first Sama is always an initiation. With regular practice, the path becomes deeper and deeper.
It is a magical practice and life style to bring these teachings into daily life. Doing a Dieta can open and change your view of how you perceive the "visible" and "the unseen or hidden world". That’s why this path was, and still often is, the path of a healer.

Our Healer
Our Maestros/Maestras are skilled healers in the Shipibo tradition, who have done many Dietas for many years to gain their knowledge, strength, connections, and skills. (Link)
In the early years of their journey, Plant Diets are often done in total silence and in isolation, to be in deeper connection with the plant spirit.
The uniqueness in our True-Journey Retreats is that Ute the founder and main facilitator has build up a relationship with the Shipibo Healers who work with True-Journey for many years.
More to inquiry
If you have specific health issues please contact me so I can speak with my maestros about which plants would be good for you. In some cases, I could arrange a longer Dieta with you depending on your intentions and requirements for healing.
